About me:
I am full of ideas and always ready to try something new. I started out as a breast cancer surgeon (20 years in Boston and LA) and then went to business school! I have started four companies, including the current one, which is looking at how to prevent breast cancer by putting a low dose treatment directly through the nipple into the milk ducts. My main activity these days, however, is my nonprofit, the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation. We are working to go beyond a cure to finding the cause of breast cancer and how to prevent it. We do research ourselves and also fund pilot grants for others. I am in a hurry to eradicate breast cancer for the next generation.
Passions:
I love the second part of life! I started running when I turned fifty and have done three marathons (slowly) and several half marathons. I began taking piano lessons at 55 having never done it before -- one of the hardest and most rewarding things I do. And now at 60 I am working on commuting the 6 miles to work on my new 27-speed bike with clip-in pedals -- and I have the bruises to prove it! I also love new gadgets (iphone, GPS running watch, etc.) and hope to start a tech blog soon.
Family:
I am the oldest of five and went to middle school in Puerto Rico and high school in Mexico City. This has given me a love of travel, especially with my life partner of 26 years and our 20 year old daughter. But I also love just sitting with a good book (or my new electronic reader) by the pool at home with the rest of the menagerie: two dogs, two cats and several fish.
