About Me

I am a true extrovert. I love meeting people and frequently strike up conversations with strangers in restaurants or while traveling. That is one of the best parts of my job: I meet new patients all the time and get to meet all sorts of interesting women when I speak at conferences. Hearing someone’s story always fascinates me. I also love to help others feel better -- having one of my patients smile makes my day.

Interests:
Traveling is one of my biggest passions. I’m always up for a trip, especially if it’s with my family. When I was growing up, we lived in several different countries because of my father’s job so I developed a passion for going to new places. I’m happiest when I travel with my husband and daughters. I also like to walk. I try to get in four or five miles every day that I can. When I’m away, walking is the best way to explore a new place.

Activities:
I love to bake with my daughters. This started when I was pregnant with my second child and wanted to make sure that my eldest still got “Mommy/Sarah time.” So after the baby was born, my older daughter got to pick special time with me each day, and she always wanted to spend the time baking. Now the two girls and I bake all the time -- almost always a chocolate theme of course!

Favorite books:
Believe it or not, I would have to say Harry Potter. I voraciously read the last ones as soon as they came out; it had been a long time since I read through most of the night. I am also a huge fan of escapist reading -- romantic or dramatic fiction.

Favorite movies:
We’re currently in a big nostalgia phase at home, watching the old classics: Mary Poppins, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, and The Wizard of Oz. But I also loved Hairspray, Pretty Woman, Something About Mary, and Forrest Gump. Comedies and musicals tend to top my list.

Favorite TV show:
M.A.S.H.

Favorite quote:
“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.” -- Sir Winston Churchill
