I have been married for almost 21 years and have four teenage daughters. Because of job changes, I
have moved seven times and have even lived out of the United States. As a result, I have realized how
to make friends, adapt to new situations and, more importantly, continuously learn more about myself.
I love being a psychiatrist and the work that I am fortunate to do.
Activities:
Working out is very important to me. Not only does it relieve stress, but exercise makes me feel like
I am making an investment in my body. I love to try new restaurants and new food. I am lucky to have
great friends who like to travel together. It really feels like a traveling sisterhood.
Favorite Books:
I love to read. My favorites have evolved as my life has changed. Now I mostly read nonfiction books
about historical events. I went through a phase when I was reading only books on Eastern Philosophy.
Pema Chodron’s amazing When Things Fall Apart -- Heart Advice for Difficult Times is one
that I love. Also, Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning is a treasure. I am currently
reading everything and anything about the poet, educator, and activist June Jordan.
Favorite TV Shows:
Law & Order
Favorite Movies:
Give me a great drama and a bowl of popcorn and I am happy!
Favorite Quote:
“To live is to suffer, but to survive is to find meaning in the suffering.”
--Viktor Frankl (1946)
